Scrappy Shares Tuesday

First up is a fun layout I created with the March Exclusive Kit by Chic Tags. This photo of Sharmaine, Steph, Me, and Denise chomping on my cotton candy at Downtown Disney last year has been on my desk forever waiting for the perfect products to use and tahdah this kit had the best colors. SO fun!

Next is the layout I created for my Sketch post on the October Afternoon Blog. I love this photo of my lil homebodies. I've had this photo sitting on my table just staring at it then I finally glued er down. Lots of layers and I used the OA chipboard alpha leftover as a template for my stitched letters. You can find more out about how to use the leftover template on the OA blog.

Another Chic Tag layout. Can I just say how much I love my position at Chic Tags! I do I do I do! I love all my DT positions and I'm really lucky ducky! I had to make a big photo statement on this awesome paper because the beautiful print on the left called for it. I love the little tags here and there and of course my fav photo booth photos of me and the dude.

I love this photo Stephanie Wheeler took while we were at the Santa Monica Pier in January. I knew it would be printed and the main focus of a layout someday. I've had this Fancy Pants collection sitting around forever and I also had some kit leftovers so I put them to good use here. I love those big numbers. I wanted to journal 9 things I loved about that day by each number but it just didn't look right so tags did the job and tucked nicely in the upper corner.

Have I inspired you lately? If so please share a link in the comments, I'd love to see what you're creating!

5 for Friday: DJ Turn it UP!

Some of you have seen me post on Facebook every now an then that we have what I like to call "House of K Music Trivia" where Mr.K, Teagan, and myself find tunes and try to make the others figure out who the Artist is, what the name of the song is, and if you can sing it that's bonus points. i usually am the gal in the middle maybe the ref since I know mosts of the artists and songs both of them think they will stump each other with. I am also the gal that gets to shout out "DJ spin that shit!" which both Mr.K and Teagan think is hilarious because it's in reference to one of our fav movies 8 Mile(Mekhi Phifer says it during the battle scenes).  Here are 5 songs that were played this past weekend that stumped either Mr.K or Teagan.

Mr. George Strait
Teagan got this one wrong. I was surprised when Mr.K played the song he's not a big fan but he knows I am. I'll never forget my first George Strait concert OMG I was in heaven thanks to my friend Raina. I've seen him in concert a few times and I'm trying to talk Mr.K into letting me go to one of the concerts on George's Cowboy Rides Away Tour since it will be his last tour. I've been looking into tickets and the cities left I have friends nearby so I could fly in for the concert stay and leave. Wouldn't it be a dream come try to do that.

Run DMC
both got it wrong

Poison
Teagan didn't get it.  Mr.K is schooling her on rock and she's real hip on it and getting very into some of his fans and some of the newer groups.

Patsy Cline
Neither got this one either. I know it's really old but oh so classic and everyone should know her voice.

BoysIIMen
This one neither got right which is epic fail on both parts. I love this song both know I love BoysIIMen.  This song is mine and Mav's song. I sang it when I was pregnant for him and when he was a baby.

Other fails: Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Brandy & Monica, Tracy Chapman, Aerosmith,  Whitney Houston, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Garth Brooks, 2 Pac, Bush, Snoop Dogg… some by her and some by him but I knew them all! I'm pretty good at music trivia but I can't remember shit from yesterday HAHA.

Have a great Friday!

Paper Trimmers…MK's Opinions

Today I thought I would do something a little different and to be honest not sure I've done this before. I'm going to give my opinion and experience with some of the paper trimmers I've used. Yes, opinions are like a-holes we all have them so mine certainly may not be the same as your and dude that's totally ok. I am open to suggestions and your opinion just leave them in the comments please. Let's get started.

*** I do not work for any of these companies! I'm just giving my personal opinion**

I'VE TRIED FAN OR NOT A FAN

We R Memory Keeper Trim & Score Board
I've only had this for about a week and used it a couple times before reaching for my Fiskars trimmer again. I'm really glad I got this free with my pub credits because I'm not a fan. I think it would be great for the score board part but not the trimmer. I liked that it has a place to keep the score tool.
Opinion: NOT A FAN

Fiskars 152490-1002 Portable Paper Trimmer, 12-Inch

This trimmer I got at JoAnn's with a 40% coupon thank goodness otherwise I may be just a little bit more madder than I am that after 2 uses it frayed the edges of my paper because the wire that the blade runs against was messed up. Seriously brand new and it was junk already!!  I did like that it was similar to my old rotary trimmer in that it had the flip out arm, the same measuring but it had that damn wire and it messed it all up for me.
Opinion: NOT A FAN

EK Success Tools Cutterpede

This was one of the first trimmers I bought. I got it while on a trip with friends in Kansas. I thought it was going to be awesome with that flip out arm that turned in plus it was kinda rotary without the cost. I liked it for a while but them the arm broke like with in months of purchase and then it started cutting wonky so it went in the cupboard and I'm not too sure I still have it. I also didn't like that the cutting arm flipped up instead of to the side like most cutters now do. Loved the color.
Opinion: NOT A FAN

Fiskars Portable Scrapbooking Rotary Paper Trimmer, 12-Inch

This trimmer I've had for a few years now.  I really like that the measure arm can fold in and out so storage isn't an issue. This trimmer seems to cut the straightest so far unless the blade gets wonky. I've used this trimmer enough that the little orange feet things have fell off. I think I'm more of a rotary blade girl rather than the other blade kinda girl.
Every time I think of replacing it I end up going back to it because I'm not happy with the new one. Opinion: FAN

X-ACTO Designer Series 9-Inch Trimmer, Guillotine Style

I have this trimmer. I bought it on the way to a crop a few years back after i left my trusty ol Creative Memories trimmer at home. After using this one that night the Creative Memories went in the drawer and this trimmer is the one that sits out and I use all the time! I love that it's 9inches rather than 6 and I can cut larger photos that I use all the time. Plus it's a bonus storage the clear top slides down and you have 4 separate compartment things to store pens and other little things.
 Opinion: FAN

I DON'T HAVE BUT WOULD LIKE TO TRY

Fiskars 100580-1001 ProCision Trimmer

I do not have this trimmer and I have not tried it but would LOVE to!! I think this could be the replacer for my old Fiskars rotary trimmer. I like that it's big enough to correctly measure 12x12 but it also folds up for storage too. And you NEVER have to replace the blade?!?!

Cutterpillar Pro

I've heard so much about this trimmer and would LOVE to try it. One of the reasons I haven't taken the plunge to buy this trimmer is it retails for $128.99+ which I think Mr.K might have a problem with especially if it turns out I don't like it. Plus the fact that it doesn't fold down so it would have to have a permanent place on my desk which I'm not sure I want to give the space up BUT I probably would if I got it cheaper or something :) wouldn't we all? HA

I know there are hundreds of different trimmers out there so please leave a comment with the ones you use or have used. Did you like them? Have you tried either of the 2 I haven't? what do think of them?

Have a great day! I hope you have a paper trimmer you enjoy!
PS. I think Opinion Thursday might be a new weekly thing. whatya think?

this one time with... Epiphany Crafts

Today I thought I would share a couple photos of projects and the EC booth from CHA. Many of you know over the last 3(***oops edited I thought it was 4 but it's 3years) I've been creating projects for Epiphany Crafts for their displays at CHA,trade show booths, and HSN.
I love working with Brian and Tricia!

It's been so fun! They get me and are always telling me how awesome my designs are(duh who wouldn't love that, right?!?). I've been able to travel some and I feel as if they have given me that little push that I needed in this industry. Thanks for that!!!

Together Brian and Tricia came up with the Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio which I absolutely love!
There are 17 different designs now. I have my favorites but I will leave y'all wondering which ones because seriously you have to pick one up and try it. I would probably suggest starting with one of the circles or square tools and bubble caps.

a pic of the booth from CHA-W 2014

This year Epiphany Crafts came out with the Chevron and the Butterfly. OMG when I got these 2 in the mail I about cartwheeled around the house. I LOVE both of them!!

**Crappy pics taken right before the hand off in the bad hotel light with an iphone.**
the butterfly

the chevron

I actually ran out of both shapes epoxies creating projects for CHA. There are lots more pics of projects from the booth floating around on the web. I actually didn't take any in or of the booth cause it felt weird to me since they were my own projects(i'm a dork like that!).

Seriously can't wait to see where this company goes next and continue this journey with them! I'm sure it will be AWESOME! Again thank you Brian and Tricia for EVERYTHING!!

Scrapping Sunday

Hey ya'll! Thank you for the sweet comments on my last post. No worries, you'll still be able to find me here and in my other galleries on the web.
Today I thought I would share my first layout created for Therm O Web. I love, love, love their adhesive so when I was asked to join the team of course I said YES!! When the box of adhesive arrived on my step I was in adhesive heaven! I found some products I never used before like Vellum tape. Y'all know I love vellum so I was a little skeptical with a tape because everything shows thru vellum but not this stuff, nope you don't see it. I was giddy I messaged Julia(my DT leader) right away to tell her I loved it and would need a box of it lol. You can see a step by step tutorial of how this layout came together and which products I used on the Therm O Web blog.

Thanks for stopping by~

this one time she said goodbye as she walked down Grey Street

Today I'm sharing the projects I created with the Cocoa Daisy March 2014 Grey Street Kit. If you thought something was up with the post title yesterday read on...

My Favorite Things: just a few of my favorite things and I was able to use up some photos from my bread tin stash. I also used the Epiphany Crafts Hexagon Shape Studio to punch the paper and photos.

She Loves Life: Miss Teagan. I love love love triangles right now. I totally never thought I'd say that but I have been using them in my designs a lot lately. These were just cut with scissors nothing fancy.

Journey Minibook: It's been awhile since I created and shared a mini. This is a pre-made for some upcoming journeys in 2014. I will come back to share the finished book later this year.

If you think the title of this post hints to a goodbye you would be correct, after being on the Cocoa Daisy Design Team for the past 2 years I have decided that March will be my last gallery. I have some new adventures going on in 2014 and the timing just seemed right. Thanks for joining me today! I hope you can take some inspiration from these layouts and get creating!

Friday 5: US update

***I have no idea what happened to Mav's section of this post. AHHH thanks blogger! Will try to redo a little later.

today's five for Friday is brought to by the letter K as in the Koeppen 5. I haven't done an update post on "us" in awhile so today's probably a good time to do that right?

Mr.K: Is working all the time it seems. Next week he's headed to Chicago for work(i'm not so happy about it because of the weather we've been having and he doesn't sleep well away from home so it worries me). He has a new toy which the girls and i named "theThing" it's an old old plow truck his dad gave him before all this snow hit the mitten so it's come in really hand and he thinks it's so cool. He's getting all excited about boating season and is making some changes to the boat interior. Mr.K is a fix it and tinker man and so very smart! He has some great ideas for our new, old boat and I'm pretty excited about it too. We chatted last night about taking a few date days out on the lake while our kids are making up snow days this June. Everyday he sends me I love you texts at different times of the day and is always checking on me. Love this guy so very much!he's my rock, my biggest cheerleader, and my bestest friend.
Yes, I do realize that some of you think it's weird I call my husband Mr.K instead of by his name but I like it and He's my Mr. so if you're looking for his real name I'm sure if you search the older posts you'll find it :)

Teagan: This girl is all about school and her grades right now. She is looking into science programs during spring and sumer break to go to. She's already planning for college and what field she wants to go into ANYTHING SCIENCE! Her science grade(98.9) is the highest grade in science her teacher has ever seen in her years of teaching. Her teacher suggested to T and Mr.K that Teagan go into the science field and to start looking into programs to support her love for science. We have experiments going on in this house all the time but we've asked her to wait to do some til the weather gets better then she can do them outside so we don't end up on the news "science nerd blows up parents house while doing experiments in kitchen" we have to laugh cause I could see her and Avery coming out hair standing on end like cartoon characters(i kid I know this wouldn't be funny if it was real). She is tall OMG tall like not to far from her daddy's height over 6ft. She's 11!!! She's sensitive, kind, loving, caring, and wears her heart on her sleeve. We are trying to toughen her up but try is the keyword. She is thinking about spring sports and what she'd like to do. Coaches from school are already recruiting her for sports and want her to work out with the older kids so she's ready to kick butt when it comes time to play for the school. She likes boys but isn't totally obsessed yet thank goodness and to be honest I really hope it stays that way and boys are on the back burner. Love this girl so very much she really does live up to the full meaning of her name "Beautiful Life" Teagan:Beautiful Zoe: Life.

Mavrick:Seriously how did we get so lucky with a boy like him? He is one cool cat! He's a pretty easy keeper even with Autism. Yes, we have our ups and downs and life is far from rainbows and unicorns but it's life and you make the best of it.<----he a="" according="" adjusting="" almost="" also="" always="" and="" animals="" are="" as="" avery="" back="" be="" best="" better="" blood="" bulging="" bus.="" but="" by="" cat="" change="" cholesterol="" classroom="" coke="" come="" cool="" creatures="" dad="" daily="" day.="" different="" doc="" dogs="" during="" e="" eats="" elastic="" etc="" every="" eyes="" fan="" fly="" food="" for="" fries="" fry="" games="" get="" girls="" go="" good="" group="" growing="" habit.="" have="" having="" he="" heads="" hey="" hi-c="" him="" his.="" his="" hoodies="" hoody="" i="" in="" ipad="" is="" it.="" it="" just="" kid="" know="" large="" levels="" life="" like="" likes="" little="" lives="" ll="" loves="" m="" major="" make="" making="" mav="" mavrick.="" may="" mcdonalds="" me="" middle="" might="" more="" morning="" name="" nbsp="" nervous="" new="" not="" of="" off.="" on="" one="" or="" orange="" out="" p="" pants="" people="" pick="" pig="" play="" plays="" reading="" ready="" remember="" routine="" s="" said="" school.="" school="" shoes="" shorts="" so="" some="" soon="" still.="" still="" sugars="" sure="" suv="" takes="" taught="" than="" that:="" that="" the="" their="" then="" they="" things="" think="" this="" to="" totally="" transition="" up="" video="" waists.="" wait="" warming="" watching="" way="" we="" wears="" week="" what="" where="" which="" who="" will="" with="" work="" years="" yet.="" youtube="">

Avery Ella: Oh my sweet little punky brewster! She makes life so interesting. I am inspired by her daily as she walks to her own tune in this life. She is strong, sweet, sassy, loving, hard headed, and so very smart. She does well in school but wishes to stay average. Her told me that A is one smart cookie but wishes to not show it because she doesn't want to stand out. She's told Mr.K and I that average is good she doesn't want to study or really apply herself. Right now we are ok with what she want cause she's doing so well but I think when grades really start to count she'll be just like her sister. At 8 she is an old soul, independent, mature, and ready for anything. She got a laptop from Gma for her birthday so she is looking things up, gaming, and typing. She writes me little love notes ever once in awhile and makes me feel so special. She misses the time we had while she was still at home and the bigs were at school. At least once to twice a month I get a call from school that she needs to be picked up, she has this crazy ability to throw her body into a fever and feel sick so they send her home then once she's with me she is fine. Crazy but I understand why she does it. She is also looking into the future and what she wants to do and be, she has is narrowed down to a criminologist and a tattoo artist. We are fully supportive of what she want to do so Mr.K suggested she be a criminologist by day and tattoo artist by night lol. Love it and she thought it was a good idea too. Now as far a living up to her name Avery Ella : Queen of the fairies well I'm not so sure but she is queen cool cat! She's also Mav's Avery Baby still.

ME: I'm good! This year has already brought me many awesome opportunities and I feel veryvery lucky already. I'm loving the designing that I'm doing. Scrapbook makes me so happy. I love that it's not just for me but for the kids and future generations too. I went to California in January and it was a blast I had a wonderful time meeting friends old & new.I can't wait to see my friend Lisa again!! I've made some goals for myself for this year a few I've already accomplished and more that I'm still working on like grabbing my DLSR instead of my phone to snap pics and to spend more time enjoying, living in the moment rather than worrying about things and whether I got the perfect pic to document the moment. I'm still loving all my old stuff and browsing the local places for great finds but I'm trying to simply life so I usually just look. After traveling to California I really got the bug I want and wish I could travel more.I'm so ready for this winter weather to be over with and spring to be here. I'm not good with this talking about me thing so that's it for now :)

Hope y'all have a great weekend!~MK

This One Time... HI

Hello Friends! I hope you're doing well. I've decided once again to give this whole blogging thing a go in hopes that I'll ...
